Baldwin C-601 3-manual drawknob Organ The C-601 3 manual Baldwin organs were built in a very limited number during the 1970's/80's. Each organ produced was a little different as they evolved. It was an amazing "tour de force" in analog electronics, with perhaps the largest number of gate and filter boards ever built into a stock-model church organ. It has the "guts" to produce 50 or so truly independent stops, no borrowing or unification. Even several sets of oscillators so that the pitches are also randomly offset rather than phase-locked across the stops and octaves. The stop list is as impressive as it looks, and the stops in the pedal division that are marked with other divisions are in fact fully independent stops. The markings only indicate which division each stop is expressed with. There is literally no borrowing or unification in this organ. The keyboards are a delight to play as Each key is a balanced wooden stick with lead at the back end to provide just the right touch. Many believe this keyboard was the finest any electronic organ maker has produced. The same quality found in fine pipe organs. For a dedicated owner willing to fix the small issues and with the skills to nurse it back to health when it fails, it makes a fully serviceable organ. The console could of course be gutted and used as a MASSIVE base for a VPO, This organ is extremely heavy and will not fit through a standard 3'-0" doorway. Please keep this in mind when considering purchase. I have a local tech who could be contracted to address the issues present in the organ if you do not have access to a knowledgeable technician. A few of the drawknobs need repair to more easily slide in/out. And there are 2-3 dead stops that need to be traced. The organ does not come with a speaker system and I would recommend re-configuring the organ with 5 , 1/4" outputs to drive speakers. It was originally designed to drive Baldwin tone cabinets. Adding new 1/4" outputs gives you many more options for amplification and speakers. Size: Dimensions: Height: 50" //////// Depth : 38.5" (this would be with the lid removed which is easily done..
